At sea in Shabla? Are the beautiful beaches in Bulgaria a mirage? It is already the end of August and we only have a few days off for the sea. The place we are looking for must meet two mandatory conditions:
Shabla is located about 25 km from the border with Romania and 80 km from Varna. The town itself / declared a town in 1969 / is not located on sea territory, but this does not prevent us from connecting it with the oldest lighthouse operating on the Balkan Peninsula.
The beach of the village of Ezerets is located near Shabla, on the northern Black Sea coast. It can be reached by a dirt road, 3 km long. The beach is about 3500 meters long, clean and relatively uninhabited. There is a grove and two lakes nearby.
Shabla Lake Protected Area is a wetland of international importance included in the Ramsar Convention. "Shabla Lake" is the best preserved, in terms of human activity, wetland on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
