Cape Kaliakra is a place that has a great emotional charge. There is a symbiosis between the power of the sea, the charm of nature in general and the myth of the 40 girls who jumped from the rocks there. The coast is steep with sheer cliffs that descend 70 meters down to the sea.
The name of the place means "beautiful cape". Today, Cape Kaliakra is a beautiful nature reserve, where cormorants, seals and dolphins nest in the sea, and starlings and rock sparrows inhabit the caves. On the right bank of Cape Kaliakra, from the fortress descends an alley to the original two-storey restaurant built in one of the caves with 160 seats in the cave and 200 seats outdoors. A second alley takes tourists to another, smaller cave, which houses a museum with valuable archaeological artifacts. You can also see a small chapel "St. Nicholas" and the remains of an ancient fortress.
